After bifurcation of the erstwhile state of Andhra Pradesh, APTransco also was bifurcated into two companies and the bifurcated company started operations in the new state of Andhra Pradesh from 2014 onwards with its head quarters located in Vijayawada.  APTransco came into existence on 29th December 1998 in the erstwhile state of Andhra Pradesh with Hyderabad as its head quarters. From 1999 to 2005 the company remained as single buyer of power from various power generators and seller to Electricity Distribution companies. Subsequently, the power purchase function was taken over by the Distribution companies.

Sri K. Vijayanand, a 1992 batch IAS officer, has been the Chairman and Managing Director of APTRANSCO since April 2023. APTRANSCO, a state owned undertaking, operates the state transmission utility for the entire state supplying electricity to about 50 million consumers.

Sri K. Vijayanand looks back on a long career in government, local government and state owned undertakings. He started his Indian Bureaucracy career in 1993 as Asst. Collector of Adilabad, moving on to become the Sub Collector of Rampachodavaram, Collector of Srikakulam to name a few.  He has been the Managing Director of APGENCO and CMD of APTRANSCO from 2016 to 2019. He has held the post of Chief Electoral Officer & Ex-Officio Principal Secretary from 2019 to 2021. Now Sri Vijayanand is the Special Chief Secretary to Government, Energy.

Mr. G Surya Sai Praveenchand, I.A.S., exemplifies a blend of technical expertise and administrative leadership. An alumnus of IIT Patna, he began his professional journey in the private sector, working with technology and engineering firms where he gained hands-on experience in solving various problems. He commenced his government career as an Assistant Director in the Indian Information Service(IIS), managing strategic communication and media operations during the 2019 General Elections, and overseeing government broadcasting initiatives. Upon joining the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), he underwent rigorous training before assuming key administrative roles. As Assistant Collector (Training), Anantapur, he worked on revenue administration, land management, and development programs at the grassroots level. Later, as Sub Collector, Vijayawada, he supervised land administration, disaster management, and election operations, ensuring transparent governance and quick response systems. As Municipal Commissioner, Kadapa, he led impactful urban reforms focused on infrastructure development, public health, and digital governance. His tenure as Additional Commissioner, AP Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) was marked by initiatives in financial mobilization, environmental governance, and digital transformation for sustainable urban development. Currently serving as Joint Managing Director at APTRANSCO, he leads organizational strategy to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s power-transmission reliability and operational efficiency.

Sri Javvaji Venkateswara Rao assumed charge as the Director (Technical) of Andhra Pradesh Transmission Corporation (APTRANSCO) on May 8, 2025. He commenced his service with the Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Board (APSEB) on May 14, 1986. Over the course of his distinguished career, he contributed more than 35 years of dedicated service in the power sector. He retired on September 30, 2021, as the Chief Engineer (CE), Vijayawada Zone, from APTRANSCO. Throughout his tenure, Sri J. V. Rao held several key technical and leadership positions, demonstrating exceptional expertise in power transmission operations. He was actively involved in planning, execution, and supervision of major transmission infrastructure projects across Andhra Pradesh.

Sri N.Venkata Ramana Murthy, Director - Finance

Sri N.Venkata Ramana Murthy commenced his service with the Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Board (APSEB) on March 25, 1991. Over the course of his distinguished career, he contributed 33 years of dedicated service. He retired on November 30, 2024, as the Chief General Manager (CGM) of Finance at Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL). Holding a Master of Commerce (M.Com) degree, Sri N.Venkata Ramana Murthy is also an Associate Member of Institute of Cost and Management. Accountants of India (ACMA). Throughout his tenure, he actively participated in the implementation and management of the Finance Module within the SAP system at APEPDCL, demonstrating his commitment to enhancing financial operations through technology.

Under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy, the company spends at least 2% of the average net profits of the preceding three financial years calculated u/s 198 of the Companies Act 2013. The company has a CSR policy as recommended by CSR Committee.

Accordingly, the Board of APTRANSCO, in its 155th Meeting, constituted Vigil Mechanism Committee with a view to formulate and recommend to the Board a Vigil Mechanism Policy.
